April Ross
April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball players to have won medals at least twice in an Olympics. Alix Klineman, competing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games and will attempt to win her third gold medal. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. At 39 this may be her last chance to accomplish this. The athlete is optimistic she will be able to win top awards. If we do our best or even if we perform well, I think we'll win the gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. "I'm trying to also try some luck." Ross born in 1982 and lived in Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began participating in the sports of Newport Harbor High School. She was able to participate in numerous activities in Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball, as well as basketball as well as running and track. Though she excelled when playing indoors but it was apparent that her abilities were higher than average. In her college volleyball season in her university biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her as the National Player of 1999. The skills she showed in volleyball also won her the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in the year 2000. Ross and Klineman started the partnership in 2017, but Ross had been a beach-scene star for years before. The American has been a major winner in events twice, with various partners. The other is an icon in the volleyball world. She teamed up together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's trainer. Kessy and Ross were strong on the world circuit, winning the 2009 World Championship with each other. They took home a Silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team as well as Kerri Jennings took home the gold. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement when she retired. They went on to compete for the bronze beach volleyball medal in the Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Ross played for the Trojans of USC throughout her college prior to becoming a professional. The time she spent at the school was one to remember. When she was a freshman in 2000, her play earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. She also helped the Trojans get to the Final Four. The second season of her career, she experienced a terrible personal loss, yet earned the distinction of being an All-American. Over her final 2 years in the Trojans program, she coached them to a national title every year. The individual accomplishments of her have established her status as a legend in volleyball. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross never saw her daughter reach the top of beach volleyball. Ross lost her mom to cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Ross holds her mother close to her heart. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration to her on and off the beach.
