Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family and volunteering in the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon raised on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. Another reason for his football career was that he is the youngest of three brothers to play for Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the USA. During his three years as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and won two national titles. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship, and was recognized as the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon was awarded a degree from Education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week during his time at college. After graduating, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent nine years playing for Tampa's Buccaneers. Three times, he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. The year 1988 was the first time he was working as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as one of the top 10 youths of the United States. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as an athlete, was captain of his team for the year 1975. In 1993, he joined the University of South Florida's sports department as its associate director. The College Football Hall of Fame named his in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded its Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
